Retrofuturistic dieselpunk art (Dieselpunk art by Stefan Prohaczka)

If steampunk combines a neo-Victorian aesthetic with retro-futuristic inventions, dieselpunk is its post-World War Two, 1950s cousin. The term “dieselpunk” didn’t come about until 2001, when video game designer Lewis Pollak coined it as a way of describing his role-play game Children of the Sun.

It’s since found its way into popular culture, visual art and design. But with proposals reported last month for the mass scrapping of diesel cars in the UK, it’s likely that’s where it’ll stay. The awesome artwork above is the work of Stefan Prohaczka. Check out this blog for more information on the creative process behind the striking visual.
